Amy Martin
President
Amy Martin has served as the 2007 TSBA President-Elect, the 2006 Vice-President and the 2005 Treasurer. She was the TSBA South Central District Director from 1995-2004 and has been a member of the Bedford County School Board since 1992. She has served as Chairman of the Policy and Finance Committees since 1995 and Chairman of the Negotiation Team since 1995. She received the NSBA Distinguished Service Award in 2007 and served as TSBA’s representative on the Open Government Committee created by the General Assembly. Amy holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University and is the Coordinator of Fiscal Services & Human Resources at TN Technology Center in Shelbyville, TN. Amy and her husband, Walter, have three children and four grandchildren.

David Pickler
President-Elect
David Pickler serves as the 2008 TSBA President-Elect and served as the 2007 TSBA Treasurer. He has been a member of the Shelby County School Board since 1998, serving as chairman since 1999. Shelby County was named the TSBA School Board of the Year in 2001 & 2004. David has achieved recognition as a Master School Board Member in the TSBA boardsmanship program and is an inaugural member of the TSBA Scholar’s Circle and the association’s Ambassador Program. He was named to the All Tennessee School Board in 2001 and again in 2007, when he received the C. Hal Henard/School Board Member of the Year Award. In 2002 and 2005, he received the NSBA Distinguished Service Award. David obtained a B.S. in Business Management from Arkansas State University and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Memphis. He is a financial advisor and an attorney. David and his wife, Beth, have two children.

Bedford Allison
Vice-President
Bedford Allison has served as the TSBA Southeast District Director since 2006. He has been a member of the Marion County Board of Education since 1990. He serves on the TLN Board of Directors, has been a member of the Federal Relations Network since 2000, is a TSBA Ambassador and is an inaugural member of the TSBA Scholar’s Circle. Bedford has attained Level IV in the boardsmanship program and was named to the All Tennessee School Board in 2000. He obtained a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from David Lipscomb University in Nashville. Bedford is a retired cattleman and currently works in real estate. His wife, Bobbie, is an educator.

Dan Schlafer
Treasurer
Dan Schlafer has been a member of the Cumberland County Board of Education since 2002, and served as chairman from 2002-2003. Dan is a member of the Tennessee Legislative Network Board of Directors as well as the Federal Relations Network, participating actively in legislative advocacy for education. Dan is a TSBA Ambassador and has served on the TSBA Journal Editorial Review Board since 2003. He earned the Master Board Member/Level V Distinction in 2005 and was awarded the NSBA Distinguished Service award that same year. Dan received his B.S. from Carson-Newman, followed by his M.S. from the University of Tennessee. He earned his designation as an Educational Specialist from Lincoln Memorial University. With over 35 years of experience in education, he is currently the Federal Programs Director for Monroe County Schools. Dan and his wife, Josette, have two children.

Dawn Robinson
Immediate Past President
Dawn Robinson has served on the TSBA Board of Directors as 2001-2003 Southeast District Director, 2004 TSBA Treasurer, 2005 TSBA Vice-President, 2006 TSBA President-Elect and 2007 TSBA President. She has been a member of the Cleveland City School Board since 1995 and served as the chairman for six years. She serves as a TSBA Ambassador and is the Chairman of the Nominating Committee for the 2009 TSBA Officers. Dawn has achieved Level 5 (Master School Board Member) in the boardsmanship program and was inducted into the Scholars’ Circle in 2007. She was awarded the 1998 C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award and served on the All Tennessee School Board for that year. She received the NSBA Distinguished Service Award in 1999 & 2006. Dawn obtained a B.S. in Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Dawn and her husband, Don, have four children. |
