Unraveling Education Reform Power Point Presentation An Introduction
Leadership within the Senate and House Education Committees and the TN County Commissioner Association has started this session's campaign to allow counties to return to an elected Director of Schools. The General Assembly could pass such legislation in 2006.
The Unraveling Education Reform power point presentation describes the radical consequences to school boards and TN public education if county commissions and other supporters of superintendent elections have their way. The House and Senate Education Commitees cannot responsibly pass on a bill to the General Assembly that gives counties the right to elect a superintendent without reopening the entire Education Reform Act and resetting the lines of accountability.
Cumberland Education Advocates has produces Unraveling Education Reform as a tool to inform communities about this issue. We encourage you and your school board members to review it. Feel free to edit the power point so that it fits the conditions of your community.
Also, we have prepared an outline on how Cumberland Education Advocates engaged the community and our elected representatives in a dialogue on this critical issue. CEA has reframed the issue away from the "people want to vote" frame to "keep education reform on track."
We have other community education tools that you might want to use. Please contact us so that we may send them to you.
