PROGRAM DETAILS
TSBA will hold an informative and interactive January workshop for school system negotiators, school board members and administrators that will provide attendees with tools and pertinent information needed to be successful in the world of public education collective bargaining.

As with past Negotiators’ Workshops, this meeting will provide negotiators the opportunity to network with fellow school system representatives and share updates on what is occurring at local bargaining tables.

For the January program, we are extremely pleased to have labor relations expert Stephen Shields with the law firm of Jackson, Shields, Yeiser, Holt & Speakman return to TSBA to provide sessions on the mediation process and the legal ramifications and requirements of an impasse between negotiating teams. In addition, representatives from the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service (FMCS) will partner
with Mr. Shields to provide a unique perspective on mediation, its purpose and the duties and responsibilities of the FMCS.

In addition, the latest information regarding the recently-adopted differentiated pay scale mandate by the Tennessee General Assembly will be provided, including any updates on possible revisions to the Education Professional Negotiations Act.
