Legal Services
TSBA provides legal assistance to board members and superintendents
with legal opinions and interpretations of statutes, rules and policies.
The association maintains an up-to-date file of school cases and
attorney general opinions and has access to all published Tennessee
Appellate Court opinions and opinions published in West's Education
Law Reporter.
The Tennessee Council
of School Board Attorneys (TCSBA) is an organization of attorneys
representing public school boards in Tennessee. The Council annually
offers the Summer Law Institutes, Employment Law Seminar, and Legal Clinic Workshops during TSBA's Convention
which qualify for continuing legal education CLE credit.
Council members receive the Tennessee
School Law Quarterly (formerly Tennessee School Lawyer) publication
summarizing Tennessee school law cases and attorney general opinions. Current and past issues are available on our members-only website to view and download.
Additionally, TSBA offers TCSBA members the opportunity to join the National School Board Association's Council of School Board Attorneys (COSA). Forms and membership information are available below.
